What is his business? It’s the business of finding Solutions! We look at what you are trying to accomplish, foresee the challenges and obstacles, take into account the perspectives of people on all sides of the service delivery and receipt spectrum, and come up with a plan of action based on our understanding of technology tools and the principles of customer service. We come up with creative and concrete answers to complex tasks, processes and events — and work with you to deliver them!

A brief history of Larry Deckel:
Larry Deckel has traveled a diverse and winding career path that has given him a unique blend of experience and perspective in finding solutions for others. Both analytical and creative, his broad knowledge base and skill sets along with his dedicated work ethic have made him a sought after consultant. Personable, a strong public speaker, a compelling trainer and teacher, Larry is able to see both the big picture and the fine details, helping clients envision and implement new approaches to their work. As you’ll notice in this blog, his vocation and interests are intertwined – spanning the worlds of technology, public service, arts and popular culture. You are as likely to see his passions and interests in this blog as you are to see the work he’s doing on a day-to-day basis.
So who is this guy?
- Larry worked professionally in the theatre for 25 years as a Director, Playwright and Stage, Production and Tour Manager. He has trained hundreds of young actors who went on to successful and famed careers, and has been a guest artist and visiting professor at a number of Universities. His artistic homes have included Actors Theatre of Louisville, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Charleston Stage Company and he has directed over a hundred plays across the United States and abroad. Key Assets: creativity, event management, training and lecturing, creative collaboration.
- Larry took a short tour of duty in the corporate world delving into Personnel Management, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications. Key Assets: people skills, writing skills, desktop publishing and design, and a reputation for extraordinary customer service.
- Larry’s work in the last ten years have been focused around the national service movement – the recruitment, management and retention of volunteers to meet the needs of communities and nonprofits. He became involved in community building through his long association with the HandsOn Network, where he quickly moved from volunteer to consultant to staff to management. He has recruited tens of thousands of volunteers and trained and developed hundreds of community leaders. He envisioned and helped launch HandsOn Inland Empire and is a Volunteer Coordinator for a range of prominent community events in Southern California including the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. He is a frequent consultant to Volunteer Centers around the country offering training in Volunteer Management, Program Management, the organization of large-scale community events and the use of volunteer matching technologies. Key Assets: a deep understanding of bringing people together to solve common problems; The ability to organize and scale large-scale events and projects, a deep understanding of social networks and online recruitment and marketing.
- Larry’s passion for technology dates back to High School when computers filled buildings, and he opted to build his own out of common household items. He was first in line to buy an Apple ][ and was one of the earliest people to venture onto the Internet at a time when one could actually make a short list of the few existing websites. He remains an explorer of technological innovation and has made a career of matching technology solutions and system designs to workplace challenges. He consults as trainer, tech and product support, and plans for the development and deployment of new technologies. He also designs and maintains websites for a number of clients. He is proud to own all the latest gadgets and gizmos. Key Assets: an understanding of the role technologies play in productivity, the ability to leverage technologies for use in new platforms, and a skill set in using a broad range of software.
- While its not his business per se, Larry is also a musician. a poker player, an avid movie goer, and a critic of popular culture — so you’re apt to find those interests reflected in this blog as well.
